This week I planned to introduce the Chase. I will still do that, but it is tough to not speak a little about what’s going on in our country. There is a global Pandemic, a recession, and now a death and protests turning into riots across America.
The great old Psalm that we have all heard so often, Ps 23 ends like this: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Have you ever thought about it? Goodness, love, and kindness are chasing you.
The previous verse (4-5) says “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for YOU are with me.” God protects and comforts His people especially in the bad times, and these are bad times.
In our society we are encouraged to drive for success, to discover meaning in life, and these can be good things to attempt. We are all driving for something good, something better, something special; when all the while God’s best is chasing us.
His good is better than the good we are chasing. His love and kindness heal our hurts better than our best medicines. A position in His house and His family is better than the best status we could attain.
How does this affect us financially? First, it frees us. When we recognize that God’s goodness and a position of success are chasing us, we no longer look to money to provide that for us. Second, we are free to invest, to grow, to be creative, to attempt excellence, and be as successful as we are capable of; but we will not be slaves to any of it. Finally, it frees us to be generous to others and ourselves. We can enjoy God’s blessings without feeling guilty and give to the needy without fearing loss.
This is why our friends at WealthShield built a Biblically Responsible Investment stock index. Together, we want to demonstrate that it is possible to invest in good companies, that don’t harm people or the environment while obtaining excellent investment results.
Over the next few months, we will unpack our investment methods while weaving in Biblical financial insight which there is a ton of. And together, we hope to be caught by God. Because while we are busy driving after good, He is chasing us with great.
In the meantime, please pray for our country. God loves people, so let’s pray that he steps in and does what only He can do, bring a big, powerful, awesome change!
